Homeless Shelter Macon GA, Domestic Violence | Macon Rescue Mission

THE NEED

The homeless, addicted, and abused are our focus at the Mission. The needs of these populations are very real in Macon:

  • According to Forbes magazine, Macon, Georgia, is one of the top ten poorest cities in the nation.
  • Experts estimate over 500 people are homeless in Bibb County. Many suffer from addictions.
  • A woman is battered every 7 seconds in our country, according to an FBI study.
  • Every year around 3.3 million children see a family member assault their mother or female caretaker.
  • Children of abused mothers are 6 times more likely to attempt suicide and 50% more likely to abuse drugs & alcohol.

Hand-outs alone will not heal a child who has witnessed domestic violence, or get a homeless man off the streets. These individuals need help facing the deeper problems in their lives. They need time to heal and recover. They need to hear that they can find hope in Jesus Christ.

We strive to meet these needs with our residential programs, offering broad services in a Christ-centered setting. Counseling, life skills training and a focus on Jesus Christ are central.

The Macon Rescue Mission and Dove Center provides over 15,000 days of residence to homeless men and female victims of domestic violence and their children every year. We distribute thousands of food boxes, diapers, and hygiene kits to those in need.

By supporting our programs and outreach, you give hope in the face of these staggering problems. Because you care, we can share!
