Mitchell’s Story

Laura, Development Coordinator | 0 Comments

I was born and raised in Upson County. I went to high school at R. E. Lee where I played football and ran track. I went on and got me a job, starting at a grocery store and then I moved away from home and worked at Thomaston Mills for 15 years. After that I went on to be a cook at several fast food restaurants. I was living good, stayed out of trouble, and worked every day.

My problems started when I started to play around with the wrong crowd and I heard about crack and how it makes you feel so good. Boy you talk about a good feeling, it feels good. It got me to where I could not pay my bills and or nothing else. I finally got tired of that mess.

I came to the Mission because I wanted to get away from it and I was tired of telling lies – sick and tired. I wanted to make a change. A real real real close friend of mine brought me here, her name is Miss Kathy. Yes it took a while but I hung on in there. I prayed and prayed and I waited, trusting God.

Now, I’m blessed with a job again, I am so happy! I have grown spiritually stronger. The Lord really helped me. I love to go to church. I love the Lord. You grow closer to him, he will grow closer to you. I really feel good. I plan to make a new life here in Macon, keep working and trusting in God, maybe even start me a family.
